Description

This tool was used by Pennsylvania housewrights and millwrights . The Twybil was developed in northern Europe but was never adopted by the British or the British colonist in America. The Twybil was widely used in Scandinavia for only mortising. Sometimes the Twybil was swung like an ax or ads, but usually pounded into the wood with a wooden mallet.

This tool was used in barn building till about 1890.
